The first all transistor TV
In 1960, Sony brought the first all transistor TV, the TV8-301, to market. The TV8-301 employed 23 silicon and germanium transistors, 15 diodes, and 2 high-voltage diodes. This model shown was also portable, a market for folks very rich and eccentric at the time. To make matters worse, the TV8-301 broke down a lot. This model became known as Sony's "frail little baby."
