A scene from Thursday night's MfA Icon Awards, where bands such as Green Day and Death Cab for Cutie were honored for contributing to political awareness among American youth. For its 2005 "American Idiot" tour, Green Day took MfA volunteers along to promote voter registration and issue education.
The awards event was a hipster's dream, with mojitos the signature cocktail, a silent auction of a guitar played by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and late-night dancing with SambaDa.
