Dentist pilot
Rodger Musso, 63, a retired dentist, piloted his own plane in the PAV challenge. Here, he described the instrumentation of his own long-wing Pipistrel Virus, a sport plane that starts at about $70,000. The real-time computer displays information about the airplane such as engine temp, maximum rpm, maximum wind speed and other vital information. The two-seater plane also includes a ballistic shoot for emergency evacuation and a "feather" pulley so that the pilot can fly the plane in glide mode.
