Editors' rating: 8.3
The good: Free overclocking; top performance among mainstream PCs; balanced configuration includes decent graphics card; SLI motherboard gives your graphics room to grow.
The bad: Wi-Fi adapter adds to the bill; no Bluetooth option; front-panel ports located in a hard-to-reach spot; unlike last year's $999 campus special, monitor and speakers cost extra.
The bottom line: By offering its overclocking on the mainstream Vector GX Campus Edition desktop, Velocity Micro gives students--and anyone else in need of performance on the cheap--best-in-class performance.
