Photos: Russian air show aims high

Like Boeing with its new 787 Dreamliner, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft is touting greater fuel efficiency and a quieter ride. Depending on the configuration, the SuperJet 100 can seat between 68 and 103 passengers.

According to the RIA Novosti news agency, Sukhoi announced a deal at MAKS with Italy's Alenia Aeronautica to set up a joint venture to sell and maintain the new medium-range jet. To date, Sukhoi has more than 60 orders for the plane, with the first ones due next year, the Novosti report said. The first public demonstration of the SuperJet 100 is expected in September.
