Biodiesel is sold on the premises of the Solar Living Institute, which also provides an electric car charging station. Yokayo Biofuels in nearby Ukiah supplies the biofuel, which is brewed using waste vegetable oil. Soy is a more common feedstock yet is considered less sustainable because it is grown on farmland that might otherwise be used for food or livestock.
Seattle-based Imperium Renewables is opening a refinery aiming to make 100 million gallons of biodiesel by the end of the year.
