On the floor of the Wired Nextfest there's a prototype of Elon Musk's SpaceX capsule Dragon. (Musk is the founder of PayPal and now involved with many projects including SpaceX and electric carmaker Tesla Motors.) SpaceX won the NASA Commercial Orbital Transportation Services competition last year, giving the company the opportunity to fly and land its Falcon 9 launch vehicle and Dragon spacecraft on behalf of the space agency in the coming years. SpaceX expects that Falcon 9/Dragon will replace the space shuttle in servicing the International Space Station when it retires in 2010.
