ConnectR back

While still essentially a remote-control device of sorts, the ConnectR is more along the lines of what one might consider a robot.

ConnectR operates over a local wireless network. You can drive the communication robot around remotely from a Web site while talking to a person over its VoIP speakerphone. You can also control the angle and focus of the camera for the video feed that enables you to see what's going on.

The home robot could be used when you're away to check on your home or talk to family members you've left behind. You can also use it to host long-distance guests in your home or a classroom by giving them the access code.

iRobot CEO Colin Angle refers to ConnectR as a physical avatar.
