Satellite image of Southern California wildfires
Wildfires raging in Southern California over the last several days have destroyed hundreds of homes and forced thousands of people to evacuate, and the situation could get worse before it gets better. A dozen or more fires have burned more than 400 square miles in an area extending from Los Angeles to San Diego.

This satellite image from Monday afternoon, with smoke billowing out over the Pacific Ocean, gives an indication of the extent of the fires (outlined in red).

Google map is by KPBS
The map on Google Maps is actually being done by KPBS in San Diego. They have also had Google helping to increase there performance of the maps because so many people are referencing them.... (Read the rest)
