If heat might someday be an option for dispersing rowdy crowds, light is an up-and-coming alternative to guns or Tasers for subduing suspects. This is one of several LED Incapacitator prototypes that the LA Sheriff's Department is developing with Intelligent Optical Systems . The LEDI device would randomly strobe with colored light-emitting diodes at varying intervals and intensities, while remaining eye-safe, according to Heal.
