Apple fake memo
Tech blogs like Engadget have gone from being small-time operations to major media outlets in just a few years, which means that a whole lot of eyes are watching--including eyes belonging to stockholders in the companies that they write about.

In May 2007, Engadget bloggers received an e-mail claiming to include an Apple internal memo that detailed delays in the launch dates of the iPhone handset and Leopard operating system. It was a prank by someone who spoofed the apple.com domain name, which bloggers quickly realized--but not before the effects of the news story had made Apple's stock take a notable (but temporary) dip.

I was sent the Dexter E-mail & it was awesome! It really was done well - I even sent one to my mom & put enough clues in it so it just didn't come out and say her name - very cool little prank to play. Too bad some people have no sense of humor.... (Read the rest)
