Subaru has released an update to its cult favorite among the fast and the furious set. The 2008 Subaru WRX STI has a 2.5-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine that makes 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm with a six-speed manual transmission. The engine is mounted to the chassis to offer a lower center of gravity and more stability. The car will be available as soon as January with a starting price of $34,995, according to Subaru.

This all-wheel drive car has a great system for distributing just the right amount of torque among its wheels that can be controlled either manually or automatically by a computer. First hand experience has shown that this feature--intended for rallying through the woods--actual makes the Subaru WRX STI one of the best performing cars in terms of traction, power, and stability when driving in ice and snow.
