The winner
Last year, NASA held a vote on its Web site to determine the favorite images from the Cassini spacecraft which has been orbiting and investigating Saturn since 2004. This year the Cassini Imaging Central Laboratory for Operations (Ciclops), a group of hardcore Saturn-Cassini enthusiasts held a contest of their own.

This gallery shows many of the highest scoring color images. Those interested in seeing the full set of winners--including videos--can visit Ciclops' site. The site also includes full page versions of the images.

The winner and still champion is shown here. New details of Saturn's rings were captured when the Cassini spacecraft took photos while in the shadow of the planet.
