General Motors is announcing a partnership with year-and-a-half-old company Coskata in which GM will invest in the cellulosic ethanol company and test out its fuels at a planned pilot plant. GM will invest an undisclosed sum as part of Coskata's series B funding.
Coskata (named after a nature sanctuary near Nantucket, Mass.) is a biotechnology company with a process it says converts different feedstocks, including woodchips, grasses, or even trash, into ethanol at lower prices than competing cellulosic ethanol companies.
