Instead of being a self-contained component, the PlayStation 2's CD/DVD drive is part of the metal shielding.
Four screws hold the drive mechanism to the shielding and mainboard. Remove these screws and disconnect the CD/DVD drive's ribbon cable before removing the shielding.
