On TechRepublic: Hidden Vista tricks boost productivity

Japan's Willcom has unveiled the Sharp-made D4, a UMPC based on the recently launched Intel Atom CPU. It's believed to be the first Atom-based device will cellular abilities. It has a 5-inch 1024x600 display that allows you to view most Web pages without having to scroll horizontally.

ZDNet's Matthew Miller says the "D4 device looks like a small HTC Shift with a better display in a smaller package." One big problem: The D4 will be released in June--but only in Japan.

Note the h/w based scrolling/select navigation on the rhs. I love my Acer laptop rocker wheel/touchpad combo - sadly lacking on my high end tosh.... (Read the rest)
