After selling over a million units of the original Eee PC with a 7-inch screen, Asus says it will launch the eagerly anticipated 8.9-inch screen model in May. Asus whetted the apetite of UMPC enthusiasts when it showed off the device at CES and CeBit earlier this year.

The new Eee PC 900 has an 8.9 inch display at 1024×600 resolution, a 1.3 megapixel Web cam, and more storage capacity than the original 7-inch screen model. It will have a Windows XP version that will hold 12GB total flash storage while the Linux model will run with 20GB total flash. ZDNet's Matthew Miller reports that the Eee PC should cost around US$650.
