In the not too distant future, you might not need to go to flight school to be a Predator flyboy, but for now, experienced pilots are in the virtual cockpit--a hemisphere away at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada. Here, in a control center at Creech in January, Royal Air Force Maj. Kevin Gambold, participating in a military personnel exchange program, monitors and pilots a Predator that lifted off from Ali Air Base, Iraq. The UAV cruises at about 85 mph, hitting speeds as fast as
135 mph, with a range of about 450 miles.
