The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in the Stadio Olimpico, a renovated 1930s soccer stadium that used to be called Stadio Comunale. The facility normally seats up to 26,000, but temporary stands will be erected for the ceremonies to increase capacity to 35,000.
The 2006 Winter Olympics will take place in Turin, Italy, from Feb. 10 to 26. But the venue preparation has been long under way. Here's a peek at the facilities, sans the 1 million spectators expected to descend upon the city known in Italian as Torino.
