The robotic arm of the Phoenix Mars Lander has successfully scooped dirt from the Red Planet's surface and deposited it on a filter screen which covers the probe's onboard laboratory.

The Phoenix Mars Lander touched down in the North Polar region of Mars on May 26. NASA hopes that the robotic arm aboard the craft will be able to take ice samples beneath the surface and test for the presence of water and possibly life on Mars.

I think it's great. The more we learn about God's other creations, the more we'll know about ours.
I also like the thought that we're beginning to stretch to the outer limits of our "known" space. Who knows, one day we'll be someone else's aliens.... (Read the rest)
