CNET News.com reporter Daniel Terdiman visited the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala., on Monday as part of Road Trip 2008 , his journey through the South in search of the most interesting tech- and science-related stories he can find.

One of the reasons is that Rocket Park has two Saturn V rockets, this one a fabricated, full-size mock-up, and a second, authentic, one that was, in fact, the first one NASA ever built. The Saturn V, which was used to launch each of the manned Apollo missions, was a three-stage rocket whose five main engines could produce 7.5 million pounds of thrust.
