Standing on an observation platform high above the rivers of conveyor belts at Worldport, one has the sense of looking down into a Grand Canyon of moving parts, as New Yorker reporter John McPhee once wrote. It can be a dizzying experience to see how many different moving parts there are and how complex the system is.
