Excite was an early competitor to Yahoo. It tried to be the next Yahoo by becoming an ISP and portal as well as a search engine. Excite merged with @Home and subsequently cratered. It was ultimately acquired by Ask.com.

HotBot ruled......
I did also used, or should I say "preferred" HotBot all the way, it yielded better results and offered more search options; don't forget that Yahoo! was a directory, like an interactive Yellow Pages b... (Read the rest)
