Jake and Amir (2007)
In mid-2007, real-life CollegeHumor employees Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld created Jake and Amir, a Web show in which they play exaggerated versions of themselves.
The medium for Jake and Amir may be new, but its premise is literally ancient: the straight-man-and-weirdo duo act found in everything from Greek comedies (did you have to read Plautus in college?) to classic Broadway musicals to the 1990s Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan and Kel (which it's pretty clear either Hurwitz or Blumenfeld watched as a kid). In this case, Hurwitz plays a slightly scheme-minded yet relatively normal guy who's continually pestered by his off-the-wall, sugar-high buddy (Blumenfeld).
The show has a huge following online and has reportedly snagged MTV's interest. But with more than 130 episodes already completed, how much longer can this act stay funny? Even Abbott and Costello had to bring Dracula and the Mummy into the mix when things started getting stale.
