PVI display controller (PVI-6001A)
The Kindle's E-Ink electronic paper display is supplied by Prime View International (PVI). The PVI chip shown in this photo (with markings: PVI-6001A F07310104 JAPAN) is the display controller. As I noted earlier, the Kindle's screen offers 600 x 800 pixel resolution at 167 ppi and a 4-level gray scale.
