NEC's ORB battery
Japan's NEC is working on a new class of rechargeable battery that can serve as an emergency power source for PCs, servers and even electrical household appliances. The high-power organic radical battery, or ORB, uses the electrochemical reaction of organic radical compounds and avoids using dangerous heavy metals such as mercury, lead and cadmium, which are usually found in batteries.
