On Wednesday, Popular Mechanics magazine will unveil the 2008 version of its annual "Breakthrough Awards" winners issue. For several years, the awards have gone to innovators and innovations that are making big leaps forward with technology that helps people in their daily lives. Among the winners this year are Electronic Arts' Spore, Amazon.com's Kindle, Livescribe's Pulse Smartpen, and Intel's Atom processor.
