Serious materials
Serious Materials is a start-up that's trying to shake up the century-old drywall business. The company has developed a drywall that uses 80 percent less energy to produce than gypsum board and contains 80 percent recycled content. The product is also more mold resistant and easier to work with, according to the company. Even though there's been a dramatic drop-off in new building construction, the company is having trouble keeping up with demand, according to CEO Kevin Surace.
