India's Tata Motors announced plans to take orders in India beginning April 9 for the Tata Nano, an ultra-cheap car that runs on a 2-cylinder, 624cc-rear engine and is likely to be priced at around US$2,000. Tata expects to sell out its initial order of 100,000 Nanos for 2009 and is able to produce up to 350,000 vehicles in 2010. Read more about the Tata Nano and its low-cost design.
