Spirit set camp for the Martian winter at a location where it could receive maximum sunlight to recharge its solar batteries. NASA scientists hope to restart the engines and resume traveling in early 2007 when the Martian winter ends.
This is the left half of the panorama where tracks and a pothole dug by Spirit's right-front wheel, which no longer rotates, have exposed bright underlying material.
