BAE Systems was awarded a contract to lead a team of UK manufacturers, military leaders and scientists in building the unmanned Tararis air vehicle. Named after the Celtic God of Thunder, the goal of the program is to develop a next-generation military vehicle.
Testing on Taranis will begin in 2009 but a BAE spokesperson said that it would take at least 10 years to fully develop.
