Images: Super Bowl tech ads from years gone by

In this 1984 Super Bowl commercial, which teases the introduction of Apple Computer's Macintosh, a giant video screen featuring a Big Brother-type figure is speaking to an audience when a young runner eluding authorities (perhaps the "thought police") swings a sledgehammer and destroys the screen. Then a voice says: "On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like 1984."

In 1984, the Los Angeles Raiders handily beat the Washington Redskins in the Super Bowl.
