Photos of James
Hundreds showed up at a memorial Saturday for CNET senior editor James Kim, who died of hypothermia in the snowy Oregon wilderness late last year while seeking help for his stranded wife, Kati, and two young daughters, Penelope and Sabine. Friends and family, as well as strangers who had been touched by Kim's story, gathered under sunny skies at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park to hear speakers talk about Kim, and to celebrate his life and legacy with music, belly dancing and arts and crafts for kids.

As part of the event, which lasted from 1 p.m. until sunset, visitors could look at a display with photos of the 35-year-old Kim at various stages of his life. At CNET, Kim covered digital audio and co-hosted a weekly video podcast for the Crave gadgets blog.
