Here, the president tours the fermentation room at Novozymes, where biomass materials are turned into cellulosic ethanol . While most ethanol today comes from corn, the cellulosic variety comes from materials such as wood chips or straw.
In a process akin to brewing beer, Novozymes uses microorganisms to make enzymes that it ships to ethanol facilities around the U.S.
