The big three U.S. automakers brought some of their eco-friendlier offerings to the White House on Monday as they met with President Bush to discuss alternative fuels. With a focus on hybrid technologies and alternative fuels, President Bush wants Congress to pass energy legislation by the start of the summer driving season in keeping with his goal of reducing U.S. gas consumption by 20 percent over the next 10 years.
"We tried to make clear to the president that his direction, particularly relying more on biofuels and technology, are things that are within our grasp now," Wagoner said Monday, according to the Reuters news agency.
