J. Derek Lomas and a cohort set up their project for the Make Fest, a do-it-yourself science fair of technology and the arts, which was held Wednesday night at the ETech conference in San Diego. Co-director at the social movement lab at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Lomas created the project to study social movement. Here, Lomas and a helper set up a tall pole with a video camera installed at its top, which will record people's movements throughout the fair.
