Greenland glacier
Experts on global warming are warning that the giant glacier covering Greenland is melting rapidly and one of the best examples is the newly uncovered Warming Island. Photos released this week by the United States Geological Survey Landsat Project show the meltdown.

Scientists are concerned because the glacier on Greenland contains enough water to raise global sea levels by about 23 feet. This gallery shows the potential impact of rising sea levels by just over three feet.

As you can see from this 1985 photo the finger-like land masses in the center appear to be connected to the mainland.
