JavaOne scene
Thousands of programmers and developers hit Moscone Center in San Francisco Wednesday for the second day of Sun Microsystems' JavaOne conference, which runs through Friday, May 11.

Now in its 12th year, JavaOne focused in part on using Java for graphically rich networked software that runs on personal computers--very much the original domain of Java when it was introduced in 1995. At the event, Sun announced new software called JavaFX Script geared to make it easier to program Java applications that run on PCs. Sun also introduced a software product called JavaFX Mobile for cell phones and fulfilled its promise to release Java as open-source software.
