Dell is trying to turn things around since losing its lead as the world's No. 1 PC maker to Hewlett-Packard and reorganizing its leadership team. As a result, it's holding sessions with the media to show off what it says are its most innovative new products.
Energy efficiency is a key part of Dell's play for big- and medium-size businesses that purchase its desktop PCs. Here is the H2C cooling unit for high-performance machines, especially the kind popular among gamers. It's currently being used in Dell XPS systems, and the technology was developed within Dell's own labs, Chief Technology Officer Kevin Kettler said. The dual-cooling system, which uses a mixture of liquids, is very similar to what is found in a refrigeration unit, said Kettler. The cooling system allows processors to run at a higher frequency.
