One of Tsinghua's applications can help a video camera survey boat traffic on canals and rivers. If the length of the boat exceeds the focal length of the camera, the camera analyzes the image (see the part with the red dots). A computer then creates a simulated image of what the boat looks like. It extrapolates from the data and makes a new image from a different, easier-to-observe angle.
